We’ll break up Amazon as soon as Tesla uses GAAP and abandons other creative means to justify its product.

Waiting for this bastion of untouchability to go full-MAGAt, every day seems a step closer.

It will be interesting to see if his “vocal, but unorthodox” views on COVID tarnish his image with the core devotees...

I suspect won’t most care, they’ll see it as “edgy” in that overmonied normcore  middle of the road way.

I thought it was funny that his “Twitter divorce” lasted less than 24 hours.

If we wants to make real change he should run for President. I mean, how hard can it be?

I’m pretty sure you can see that in Trump’s face during that Correspondent’s Dinner where Obama did a “tight 5" minutes of hilarious comedy about Trump...

That miffed look on Trump’s face of “Hey, I bet I can get your job. How hard can it be?”

Fortunately, Musk’s birth status precludes him from the highest office.

Why doesn’t he just do what he usually does in these situations - announce that he’s starting his own online mail order retail business, proceed to Tweet out a bunch of nonsensical details about it over the next several days (100% robot warehouse workforce, all-electric cargo jet fleet, guaranteed same day delivery on all products, a limited edition logo’d bazooka to raise startup funds), then lose interest and pretend like the idea never happened?

Hey, he did create the world’s greatest candy company after feuding with Warren...

I should be right in the wheelhouse of a target Model 3 customer and yet I refuse to buy anything from Musk. I can afford it, I like fast cars but I care about the environment, I live in a major city with plentiful Superchargers, and the cars even have vegan leather fer chrissakes. And yet the cult of personality around Musk had me very hesitant to join up, and his behavior has only continued to get worse. There’s also the often horrible build quality, and not-repeatable performance. All of w hich makes it very easy for me to vote with my dollars.

I’m effectively in the same boat. I could swing a full option Model 3 (which I prefer to an S or X, those being above my budget properly equipped anyway), but I wouldn’t. It is an interesting and innovative car even with c harging in my building still being a problem, range would be irksome on road trips (spending an hour stuck in BFE aft er suffering range anxiety is in fact annoying), inconsistent quality concerns me - but really, the zero self-aw areness no accountability jerk behind the name is an even bigger detriment, along with the fanatical cult who worship him and the fudged models used to justify the price . I just can’t get on board.

Yeah, that was a TweetFart that died a quiet death.

Warren threw shade on the Tesla business model and Musk threw some back on the candy business.  Until he forgot about it...

Well, his original plan was to run a rockstar-style campaign, lo se to his old, but now very much ex-friend Hil lary by a relatively narrow margin, then launch Trump TV as 24 hour cable news and political commentary channel, branding himself as the official voice of opposition for the next 4-8 years while remaining comfortably ensconced in his gold plated penthouse and jet setting around the world to his different resorts.

I think he was more surprised than anyone that he a) won the nomination (but there were like 50 candidates to start, and they were crazy slow to drop out in favor of someone stronger , even when it was obvious they couldn’t win), and b) won the election. If he knew it was going to go this far, I think he would have quit pretty early in the primaries, but once he got in too deep, he had no choice but to commit.

It’s funny... that... right after the election you could see the k ids, especially, seemingly with a deer-in-the-headlights look that kind of telegraphed that they didn’t think they were going to win. I think we’ll eventually find out that Obama and Susan Rice and that crew all thought Hills was a lock, so probably reacted adversely to the people (including Flynn) they mocked-and-despised coming by for updates and the keys to the filing cabinets.

I don’t even think they’d ever considered stuff like “transition team” and knew very, very few Beltway insiders— for hiring, for referrals, for policy consulting... anything. That first wave of “appointees” had a heavy “Fox News Contributor” flavor to them— probably because they were so poorly connected in DC.

I will admit that I’m amazed he could win, carry out a robust campaign, while basically sleeping in his own bed every night for the full two years.

of course, it looks like he’s about to be beaten by a guy whose best strategy is to never leave his basement.

And a guy with a questionable past on racial issues, at that. I mean, people can and do change, and he has been better the past several decades, but Biden did do and say some things in the 70s and 80s that would have easily disqualified him if the Democratic establishment though they had a better alternative.

Honestly, I expect Trump will be kind of relieved. The economy is bound to rebound somewhat as things reopen, so the flagging values of his real estate holdings will recover a bit, he can spend a chunk of his fortune on a palatial presidential library, maybe on the campus of Hillsdale College or Liberty University, and go back to his cushy old life. He has enough things he can pick and choose from to defend his 4 years as a success when he does paid speaking engagements to friendly crowds (briefly record low unemployment, survived impeachment, won when nobody thought he could, add some filler and you've got a stock CPAC dinner speech  to recycle for years). He'll be called upon by Fox News to give color commentary during future presidential elections, and also the next time a president gets impeached, since he won't be bound by the usual sense of decorum that keeps other ex presidents from involving themselves in politics.

I dunno. I’m still fixated on the Robert Gates assessment of Biden... so we’re down to “who’s on his cabinet” and “who is the VP?”

People seem offended when I mention that last Bernie-Joe debate (the one that was actually watchable with NO AUDIENCE to detract from positions and issues with ridiculous catcalls and applause)... and it’s like Bernie delighted in pointing out how Joe had flipped 180 degrees (or maybe 360 or even 540) on major issues. You were left to think that even Joe doesn’t know what Joe’s positions are on issues— and I think the 1994 Crime Bill is gonna be a problem. I’m still pissed at the Honorable Senator From MBNA Bank— as  it’s painful to watch those videos of Warren fighting Biden on the predatory language in the Bankruptcy Bill. Biden couldn’t be persuaded to do anything other than what the banks wanted in that bill.

The best we can say at this point is that he seems to have no recollection whatsoever of any position, action, argument, or activity he’s ever engaged in. He’s a blank slate.  Maybe that’s a good thing, with the right Chief of Staff.

Im waiting for the bus ing issue in Wilmington to be brought up - he referred to school desegregation as creating a “racial jungle” . It was years ago, but that kind of talk does not play well today. Mind you, I doubt there's much he has to worry about, Trump's team won't do anywhere near a through job on debate prep, and he'll ignore whatever notes they give him anyway.
